I heard a very heated and entertaining discussion on sports radio this week. The topic was whether you would consider "Die Hard" to be a Christmas movie! Opinions flew fast & high on the topic, but it got me to thinking....What camera would Bruce Willis have taken with him during his adventures on that exploding high rise? It probably would be the tough, waterproof and cold-proof Nikon Coolpix AW110!
The successor to the popular AW100, this new camera has been improved to support shooting in all types of outdoor situations. In addition to the latest camera features, including a 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens, a backside illumination CMOS sensor with an effective pixel count of 16.0-million pixels, and built-in Wi-Fi® support, the AW110 is tough enough to stand up to use in the most severe outdoor situations with waterproofing to a depth of 18 m for use while diving, shock-proofing that allows the cameras to withstand falls from up to approximately 6 1/2 feet and cold-proofing to approximately 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It is also equipped with a variety of functions that support an active outdoor life, including an altimeter, depth gauge, and atmospheric pressure that can be displayed in the camera monitor and recorded with image data, built-in GPS, and a bright and clear 3-inch OLED monitor that is easy to see even outdoors on sunny days.
The tough AW110 is uniquely designed not only for the durability required for outdoor use, but also to be very fashionable for everyday use around town. The AW110 is equipped with a Wi-Fi® function that enables the wireless transfer of data from the camera to a smart device such as a smartphone or tablet. This makes it possible for users to transfer high-quality still images and movies recorded with the camera to a smart device while participating in outdoor activities at the beach or mountains for immediate upload to social networking sites. In addition to the ability to upload still images and movies saved to the SD memory card inserted in the camera, collaboration with smart devices also enables remote shooting using the smart device to frame images, control zoom, and shoot. High-quality, 1920 x 1080 full-HD movies with stereo sound can also be easily recorded by simply pressing the camera's movie-record button. In addition, users can express their own individual intent with movie recording and editing using functions like HS Movie, with which movies are played back in 1/8-, 1/4-, or 1/2-speed slow motion, or 2x-speed fast motion. Naturally, movies can also be recorded underwater.
This is a camera Bruno would be proud of! (Mr.Willis' fans would get the clever reference!) The AW110 is available in Black (as shown above) or Orange in a kit which also includes a case & 2 year Nikon USA extended warranty for the special price of $249.95 (after $100 instant savings from Nikon USA). And if you're interested in my two cents, "Die Hard" is NOT a Christmas movie!
