With Mother's Day coming up,  I always suggest to all last minute folks a framed portrait photo for that special woman who brought that special someone into the world. But it should not be just any photo—I've come up with at least 5 pictures that any mother would love & can be easily taken to look like a pro photographer's taken it! These are photos that she'll treasure forever & are destined to become cherished family keepsakes. They can include: A multi-generational photo of mothers, a photo of her child with the father, a picture of her & her mother, a photo of mom with her kids grown up, and as we' ll cover below, a photo of her kids being affectionate!   Get your camera close or zoom in to fill your frame with your subject(s) for a more intimate shot. Sometimes, I give my photos some classic appeal by experimenting with black-and white. This photo of my grandchildren was originally taken in color, but I used Picnik ( www.picnik.com) to crop & lighten it slightly and change it to black & white. There are tons of artsy & fun effects to choose from, and it's just one of many resources available (many for free!) to fix & enhance your photographs. As for this photo, I used my wife's trusty point & shoot set on the "Kids & Pets" automatic mode that allowed for continuous autofocusing to capture this (very) fleeting moment. This customized feature is also available on most entry level DSLR's (Photo by Fred Bonilla). You can also come up with a great sentimental photo by scanning an old photo of Mom in her younger days or a photo of a treasured item from her youth. And don't forget the pets: including your canine or feline family member(s) will certainly add to the memories & fun! There are more great tips that were featured in our blog on Valentine's Day week that can help for a great photo for Mom or for most any other holiday occasion: Just type in "Valentine's Day" in our blog search engine at the upper right corner of our webpage. And to Moms everywhere, Thank You & A Very Happy Mother's Day!
