The Tamron 17-50mm f/4 Di III VXD Lens suits both video and photo needs with a unique focal length range that includes an ultra-wide 17mm position that's perfect for broad fields of view as well as for interior settings, architectural subjects, and even when recording vlogs at arm's length. The range extends to 50mm, offering a normal-length field of view, that suits portraits and tighter perspectives of everyday subjects. Also, it has impressive close-up performance, with a 7.5" minimum focusing distance at the wide end and 11.8" on the long end, for working with nearby subjects. This flexible range is backed by a constant f/4 maximum aperture that helps prioritize portability and makes this an ideal walkaround lens.
The lens design is also well-suited to multimedia use with the inclusion of a VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) linear motor for quick and quiet autofocus performance. The lens also has an internal zoom and internal focus design, meaning the overall length doesn't change during use for more intuitive handling that is easy to balance when working with a gimbal stabilizer.
Additionally, in terms of physical design, the 17-50mm has a moisture-resistant design with a front fluorine coating that makes cleaning simple and straightforward. It uses 67mm filters, just like most other Tamron mirrorless lenses, and it's also compatible with the Tamron Lens Utility software for fine-tuning lens performance to suit your needs
