Of all the new cameras that are slated to arrive in our store soon, two of these cameras (both by Nikon) have captured our attention by offering new & innovative features that have them stand apart from the rest... While the Nikon Coolpix S1200pj is the third version of their projector-equipped models, it is unique in that the S1200pj can be connected to an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch via a dedicated cable that allows users to project images and movies stored on these devices as well as online content from websites such as YouTube and Facebook.  In addition, when the camera is connected to a Windows or Macintosh computer via the supplied USB cable, images and materials in a variety of formats displayed on the computer monitor can be projected by the camera.  The S1200pj truly offers new ways of using a camera by overcoming distance with the ability to view and project images and movies users have recorded themselves as well as images and movies acquired from around the world via the Internet. By using DLP technology, the S1200pj offers a 40% increase in projection brightness and three times greater projection contrast of it's predecesors, enabling projection of vivid images at a projection size of up to 60 inches. It's a pretty good camera as well, with an effective pixel count of 14.1-million pixels and a built-in wide-angle 5x optical zoom NIKKOR lens with a zoom range beginning at 28 mm (equivalent with 35mm [135] format) and 720p HD video. The S1200pj will be available in early October in Black (as shown) or Purple with a suggested sale price of  $429.95. On the other hand, The Nikon Coolpix S100 is a camera that has the ideal blend of glamour and technical brilliance, with sleek 18.1mm wide models in 6 distinctive colors. Superb performance in any light is assured thanks to the advanced 16 megapixel backside illumination CMOS sensor and 5x zoom. Its dedicated 3D shooting mode combines two images taken from different positions to create a 3D image that can be played back on 3D-capable TVs and computers. The intuitive fingertip control of the 3 1/2 inch touch screen enhances the enjoyment of shooting, viewing and sharing photographs while full HD (1080p) movie capabilities ensures you can really get the most out of the photos and videos you take.  High speed continuous shooting allows you to capture the action as fast as 8 fps and it's Easy Panorama 360°/180° feature lets you pan vertically or horizontally to create dynamic panoramas. Simply press the shutter and sweep the camera in front of you for stunning shots of expansive landscapes or interiors. We just got the S100 in and it is available in a kit with a leather case & 3 year extended warranty from Nikon. It is available in Black, Red & Purple (as shown) and also in Gold,Silver and Pink. We'll cover some other new camera arrivals in the next 2 weeks (including Canon's PowerShot S100 - a  TOTALLY different camera!) In the meanwhile, we want to thank the 12 folks who joined us for our "DSLR Basics "class last Thursday (9/22). It was a great time of learning and fun and we appreciated your enthusiasm and good humor. We're winding up our class schedule for 2011 with only 7 classes left for the year! Join us next week for our "Action & Sports Photography" class on Thursday September 29th at 7PM. (Photos Courtesy of Nikon USA)
